The picture here captures me walking in the water at Jupiter Beach, Florida in September 2023. (As of this writing, it is three months later and five months short of my 70th birthday.)

Late in 2022, I had a “beer epiphany” – seriously – I did have one. Over the coming months, I inadvertently underwent a transformation in ever so many wonderful ways. I can say that it has been truly life-changing and I am happy on a level I never knew existed.

Now each day is a wondrous adventure for me. I love eating well, exercising in the gym, playing some golf, acting, being with my lovely wife, Jennifer, whom I love so dearly, and spending time with my amazing friends. I love my life.

I wrote this book to share what I experienced and what I discovered on my journey in the hopes that both can help you in some way.

This book is NOT a diet book, per se. You can certainly use it to lose weight, though we like to refer to “losing weight” as “improving the way you look” -- words matter. I say with great pride that I discovered Hunger Jiu-Jitsu, a revolutionary approach to taming and/or managing the “Hunger Beast”.

The Near Perfect Body is not an exercise book either. Yet I know that it can help you embrace exercise, thereby unlocking the wonderful secret of always yearning for it, as I do. And I can assure you, that desire to exercise is a great frame of mind to be in.

This book is a fitness book not just for the body, but also for the mind. I believe that the body and mind are separate, yet permanently intertwined in a beautiful way. You must care for both. And by caring for others, you will find that you are also caring for yourself. Deep down, you know this to be true. You know it.

The best way to care for yourself and others and frankly, to live, is to be optimistic in all things. As a realist, I know that life can be unfair and so very hard at times.

I have found that when I ask myself whether to face difficulty with a pessimistic view or an optimistic one, my answer is always optimism. I hope the same holds true for you.

For a long time, I felt that this book was something more than a fitness book for the body and spirit. It took a while for me to see it.

I use the metaphor of being in a dark room with a dimmer switch slowly turning up until I could see like a mighty lighthouse shining brilliantly through the dark of night.

Well, that very lighthouse is now shining again through the dark of night and I finally see The Near Perfect Body And The Pathway to Yours for what it really and truly is.It is a dream. And this dream came true for me. And it is a dream that I know can come true for you, too.

And like all dreams, mine did come to an end. However my dream ended with a joyous awakening for me. And I realized those changes that were in my dream actually happened to me and have become who I am now. There is so much happiness within me now. I want to share that, too.

The Near Perfect Body tells you how you can transform not only your body and your mind, but your spirit as well. I also want you to smile and laugh as you read it. I want, more than anything else, for you to find real joy and happiness in your life, as I have found in mine.

There is plenty to go 'round, you will see.

I really don’t know if I just had an awakening on that incredible day in December 2022, or if something really did find me. I suppose I will never know. But it really doesn’t matter. I am fulfilled and happy and I have shared all that I have experienced. I am convinced that my book is my destiny and perhaps it is why I am here sharing this wonderful experience of life with you.

I wish you well, and again, I truly hope you find the happiness that you are looking for.
